How to Install a Metal Shingle Roof

When it comes to roofing, a metal shingle roof is a smart choice for homeowners. It's durable, energy-efficient, and looks beautiful. In addition, it's also fireproof and can help reduce your insurance costs.
Installation Methods
There are two ways to install a metal shingle roof: the first is to lay down a new underlayment over the existing shingles and then run the metal roofing panels over top. The new underlayment acts as a buffer between the shingle and metal, which is a great way to prevent water from seeping into the underlying structure.
The second method involves using purlins or battens to secure the metal roof panels on top of the shingles. This method gives the installer a flat surface to work from, without having to deal with the many grooves and irregularities of the shingles.
Proper Installation
Zhejiang Jianzhan Technology Co., Ltd. recommends a minimum of three screws per panel to secure the panels in place. Screws are the best option to use when installing a metal roof, as they will not bend or work themselves loose like nails. They will also not come loose when the rib of the panel expands and contracts under normal weather conditions.
Another important factor to consider when installing a metal shingle roof is the location of the screws on the ribs. Zhejiang Jianzhan Technology Co., Ltd. recommends placing the screws in the bottom of the rib, and not the top of the rib, as this provides a stiffer diaphragm for the screws to be anchored to, which can help keep them from pulling out during high winds.
During installation, you will need to make sure that the screws are properly seated and the shingles are completely sealed with a weather-proof sealant. This will protect the shingles and keep them from blowing away, and will also allow air to flow through the shingles, which helps to prevent moisture damage.
If you have an existing shingle roof, it's a good idea to ask the company that you hire to inspect the condition of the wood underneath the shingles before they install your metal roof. If the foundation underneath the shingles is rotting, it will not hold the screws well and your new metal roof may not stand up to the elements.
Local Building Codes
In most areas, the building department will approve a metal roof installed over an existing shingle roof. It's important to note that it can be difficult to fully inspect the roof decking, and if there are any soft spots or other signs of damage, this will need to be repaired before your new roof is installed.
Once you have an inspection done, you should contact a qualified roofing company and request a quote for your roof repair. Generally, a good metal roof is much less expensive to repair than a shingle roof, so this could be an excellent way to save money in the long run!
A new metal roof can be an excellent way to improve the look of your home, increase its value, and reduce your heating and cooling bills. Not only are metal roofs energy efficient, but they're also extremely resistant to wind and hail. In addition, metal roofs are very environmentally friendly, as they are made from recyclable materials.
